Best Paani Appa ever
Hoppers are famouse in Srilanka and few other Asian countries. My all time favourite food is hoppers with Kata sambol or egg hoppers. There are varieties of way they make hoppers they add jaggery to the batter and make it sweet they call it "Paani Appa" and to the same batter they once they pour the batter they crack a whole egg in it and add some pepper and salt it tastes awesome .
So one day I wanted to eat hoppers and tried to make . It came out really well and I wanted to share it with you all . I made few plain hoppers and few sweet Paani Appa it was the best hoppers I had and authentic . I'll give you the exact Recipe how I made .
I made these hoppers Monday morning 6.30 as my husband wants to take breakfast for the office. So I soaked the rice the previous day morning .
Let's begin
Ingredients for the Hoppers
- 2 cups Rice.(not raw rice)
- 1 cup scrapped coconut
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 table spoon sugar full
- Salt
- Pinch of soda
- 2cups of water
- Grated jaggery 1 cup
Method
- Soak the rice atleast 6 hours.
- In a mill or a grinder where you can get a smooth batter add the coconut , cooked rice ,soaked rice, sugar and add water gradually and grind it well .
- It should be very very smooth.
- Once the batter is done nicely mix the batter with your bare hand it will help batter ferment better.
- Do not add salt and baking soda now, you can add it before you make it.
- It takes atleast 8 hours to ferment.
- You can use a hopper pan to make these.
