Srilankan Battuka curry
This is an authentic Srilanka menu ,which was used as a medicine and a side dish . It was one of my child hood favourite . My mom makes the best batukka curry . This vegetable can be found in Srilanka. And people who got cold use to eat this vegetable believing that it cures flu.
I saw this when I went to the vegetable shop and felt want to try this recipe . It came out very tasty and I wanted to share this with you.
Let's see how to make . All you need is few ingredients.
Ingredients
Battu (wild egg plant) 200 gm
Onion sliced 1
Maldivefish 1 teaspoon
Turmeric 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Chilli flakes 1 teaspoon
Tomato half sliced
Oil 1 table spoon.
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
Green chillie 1
How to make
Heat the pan, put the oil let it heat ,once the oil is heated add the mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splatter.
Now add the onion , tomato , green chillie,tumeric, curry leaves,salt, maldivefish, and give it a mix. Let it cover and cook for a minute in a low flame, open the lid and smash the tomatoes and add half a cup of water. Add the wild eggplant and mix until the mixture is well covered .
Cover it with a lid and cook in low flame for about 15 minutes. Don't over cook.
Tasty wild eggplant curry is ready to serve.
